Interesting poll and discussion on wearing a poppy.

Remembrance Sunday takes place this weekend, to commemorate those who have served their country in armed conflicts. While many people will be wearing the traditional red poppy, some will opt for a white one. The white poppy is seen by some as less divisive – particularly in Northern Ireland. If you do choose to wear a poppy, which colour do you prefer to wear?

Dissenting from the Old Lie

Every year, the fury levied at those who critique or refuse the red poppy obscures the complexity and spectrum of views such dissenters open up. What is lost in this explosion of vitriol and misunderstanding is the opportunity to allow us, as empathic human beings, to be open to divergent viewpoints, to think honestly about wars and to discuss their causes.
