The Combined Cadet Force

In articles on the Combined Cadet Force in The Telegraph and Independent School Parent, the armed forces and the Combined Cadet Force once again deny that the CCF are a "recruiting organisation".

This is in contrast to the evidence of the recruitment agenda behind the Cadets noted in a testimony by a former CCF member on the ForcesWatch website, which also notes the other main agenda: PR for the armed forces, aimed at imbuing young people with a positive impression that they will carry into adult life.

The Telegraph article talks of the potential mental health health benefits of Cadets, but it overlooks the fact that in the Regulars and Reserves, mental health problems induced by traumatic events during deployments are a huge issue
